S1 Drama
S1 pupils from GOALS secondary schools around the West of Scotland are given the opportunity to participate in an interactive drama workshop delivered by professional drama practitioners from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama.
The workshops are designed to engage pupils physically, intellectually and emotionally through a variety of dramatic conventions. They encourage participants to think about their educational and professional future by exploring the dreams, ambitions and predicaments of a central fictional character called Charlie, who, like the pupils themselves, faces the challenges of selecting a future career path. Through an investigative and creative process participants will experience what it means to be Charlie and thus gain further understanding of the choices which remain open to them as they reach this important stage in their educational and social development.

What the RSAMD/GOALS project will provide:
- A two and a half hour workshop designed to engage S1 pupils through the convention of a fictional central protagonist to examine the choices they may face in their future education and career paths.
- Fully trained and Disclosure checked drama workshop leaders (1 for every 10 pupils).
- Transportation and accommodation (if necessary) for workshop leaders.
- All written, audio and visual materials and equipment.
What your school would need to provide
- A suitable space for the workshop. Please note that a large classroom or leisure room is best as pupils need to move freely. Gyms are not suitable due to echo. The room will also need to have a plug point for audio equipment.
- Supervision by a member of the teaching staff throughout the workshop.
- Lunch or refreshments (where appropriate) for the workshop leaders.
