Firstly a big thank you to every teacher who has supported our activities since 2000. GOALS could not happen without your help.
Over 2006-07, we ran a number of consultation events with teachers in order to develop activities for GOALS Phase 3 (which would commence in August 2008). To view the report from our meeting with teachers in March 2007 please click on the link under downloads.
GOALS Activities
- For P6-S2 activities are targeting raising awareness of higher education in a fun, all inclusive manner mainly delivered by current HE students
- Post S2 activities are designed to focus on demystifying HE and building confidence and skills that pupils will need to go on to further study
Targeting
Getting the right pupils on the more targeted activities is extremely important so if you are involved in selecting or encouraging pupils to go on GOALS activities, please bear these points in mind:
- GOALS isn’t only for the obviously well-motivated, high achieving pupil
- GOALS is also for pupils just outside this group, who have ability but don’t always use it
- For S3/4 pupils in particular we want to include pupils who may be achieving grades at the level of 2,3,or even 4 at Standard Grade but who you know are capable of much more.
